Another little poem, in between paper writing.

Waking Up
Across my bedroom
an alarm goes off
a clip from Jesse McCartney’s
‘How Do You Sleep?’
I float back to consciousness
like a secret agent
swiftly and without thought
I disable the siren
and return to my primary mission:
Sleeping.
