'Something New' or 'Introducing the Read More Books Than Blogs Bookclub'

Not too long ago, I was assigned to write a prompt on writing. Free topic. Whatever we had to say about it. What I wrote, basically, was that if having to choose between never reading and writing again or having only gruel to eat for the rest of my life, I would take the lifetime supply of gruel. As most of you know, I love good food. I love good, quality food so much that I don't even know how to properly get that point across! And eating gruel for the rest of my life? There would be a lot of crying and bitterness as a result. BUT my mind would certainly dull and my thoughts would definitely dwindle down to include only sleeping, eating, working, and other superficial/surface details. I need reading in my life like I need breath in my body.

It's a noble idea, but really no one's actually asked me to choose between food and books, and my reading material lately has been more of blogs than classics. Well, NO MORE, MY FRIENDS! Time for books galore! I am going to be a reading fiend! Except... it would be so much more fun if I could have people reading along with me. Truth is, I love discussing. And it takes two to tango/discuss. Are you doing the same load of laundry as me? No? Yes? Or should I say, Will you be reading the same books as me?

What to read? Give me suggestions! What should I read? What have you been wanting to read? What looks good? The RMBTB posts will be put up roughly every three weeks, and include a complete look at the book in question. Wish me luck!

I don't read the same books as you for a reason Heidi. They're just not my style. But I DO like discussing. Oooh.

How are we supposed to discuss literature when we're both reading different books?

I LOVE discussing. Like I love discussing Twilight and Harry Potter with you and Kelly. Hm...Heidi, did you read The Devouring yet? Or Wicked Lovely or Wings?

Count me in! I don't read enough lately, and I would love to knock out some intellectually challenging reads & participate in stimulating discussions henceforth.

(AKA everyone here(madison) is smarter than me and I need to catch up! lol!)

Michelle: Thanks- I love/need recommendations. The book I picked already is one that seemed to get a lot of positive feedback. Maybe I'll be doing Three Cups of Tea next!

Amy: Oh that's so great. I know what you mean. Basically, I want to have awesome discussions and yet I have nothing to talk about and no one to talk to. I'm hoping this will sort of remedy that situation.

"Are you doing the same load of laundry as me?" OMG Heidi- I'm pretty sure I made this up. I can't even remember the original quote now. Haha!

Right now I am reading "365 Ways to Save the Planet." It's a book about eating and buying organic food, ways to recycle, and ways to reduce waste everyday. I got it at the Hartford Public Library :)

I'm not too sure what kind of books you like, but some of my favorites are: The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver; Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut (actually, anything by him I love and highly recommend); The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson.

I'm a huge fan of books, and I have PLENTY of other recommendations, but I'll just put these for now.
