Friday at Long Last!

The weekend we've all been so looking forward to is finally here. Hooray!
Before I go off to hang out with a friend and watch 'The Miracle Worker', I just wanted to say I hope you each have your own kind of good weekend. And by request, I've put a playlist back up. This week it'll be some of my favorite songs on my ipod: music from 'What a Girl Wants'. Also, I've changed my blog links to one list, with some different ones.
Enjoy!

'Chatting Over Cupcakes' or 'I Love My Life!'

After a stressful last week of writing a bunch of poems, skipping school to do homework I procrastinated on, writing a paper just in time to turn it in by its midnight deadline, and leaving town for a music convention, a few little happenings of both kindness and chance had me thinking, "I love my life!"

First, I needed a little money to take with me on that 24-hour trip music convention excursion, and my mom took care of it by dropping off an envelope for me during the school day. An envelope with not only the $5 I would need to pay for dinner, but $35(!) to cover any extra things I wanted, plus two women's magazines to read on the long bus ride. I love my mom.

Second, that DaddyLikey giveaway? I didn't win. But I DID have a $15 Barnes&Noble gift card from Christmas. Picking out a slightly used copy on bn.com, I was able to pay for the book and shipping- It came in a week, and I LOVE IT. So far. (Official review to come later)

Third, by mostly luck, I was able to get all of that procrastination-victimized homework in on time and get my college application together AND finish a painting I have been avoiding work on for months. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now with a new semester starting, I am determined to turn over a new leaf, and kick my putting-off-habit's butt.

Fourth, and finally, I won something. A beautiful something. I WON it. A lovely, travel-inspired necklace from the delightful Etsy shop, Enroute, through the blog Yes and Yes. Please stop by this shop; even window shopping is a joy- the jewelry is truly unique and fantastic.

I won this?! Wow!

My weekend was, post-paper writing frenzy, very enjoyable. I tasted a new (for me) and delectable coffee drink called White Zombie (with Hazelnut flavoring) I sense a blissful week ahead; one of not procrastinating, rocking my semester exams, and seeing Sherlock Holmes at long last!

How was your weekend? What's on the agenda for the week ahead?

Happy Halloween

There are chances that the next few days will be post-less, due to work demands.
I hope all of you have a good Saturday and Halloween (if you're celebrating).

The Rules

This is a poster in my Creative Writing classroom.
I have been naughty, and giving into sweet distractions,
but today. Yes, today I need to write more.
And then Rich is coming over to watch movies with me. ;)

Hope you like the new playlist,
I was very thoughtful about my choices.
You should write too and then we can sip pumpkin spice coffee and compare the results.

Have a great Friday!

Note to Self

Happy Friday!
As promised, the new playlist is full of Lady Gaga.
I also decided I liked autoplay better, since I can always click 'pause', but I don't always remember to press 'play'.

Comments?
Wish me luck, I'm taking the ACT tomorrow!
Have a great weekend.

This Weekend

Okay, so I've finally changed the playlist, and turned the autoplay off, and I'm liking it. I hope you like it too. Friday and Saturday were pretty busy what with chilling with Katie and Amy and our new kitty, Lola (pictured lovably above).

Basically I've been having fun reading things from these two sites, fmylife and TXTS FRM LST NGHT. I've decided to give some examples, because every thing I think is awesome must be shared with other people:

from TXTS FRM LST NGHT:

"(646): So how was awkward coffee with forgets-your-name?"

"(972): Just saw a group of asian tourists in safari outifts bow in thanks to the starbucks guys. And no Im not high."

"(415): Yeudjkisdjxbfceryuj. i love having a qwerty keyboard just so i can do that."

"(347): I'm praying to Jesus, Allah, Buddah,and the whole gang tonight that I'm not pregnant"

from FMyLife:

[Today, I told a lady that came into my clothing store that I thought her abstract looking necklace was pretty. She responded, "Oh... Thats actually a pipe that goes into my lung." FML]

[Today, I took my girlfriend to the fair so I could propose. We finally got to the top of the ferris wheel, and I popped the question. She said no. The ferris wheel broke down. Most awkward hour of my life. FML]

[Today, I went outside to enjoy the cool air without my glasses. I saw my neighbor doing the same, so I waved and said hi. When she didn't respond, I yelled and went back inside. It was only later when I went back out with my glasses on that I realized I was being ignored by a Halloween decoration. FML]

Week's End

*My wish for you is a fulfilling Saturday, and a hopeful new week.
*

I recently acquired some creamy almond milk, and was delighted to try it in my tea yesterday.
Chamomile tea bag, with cinnamon and vanilla flavoring. I was wondering if any of you have recommendations for brands of tea you like or how you like your tea prepared.

The best advice I received this week:
Eat things that will make you feel good afterwards

Do things with purpose

Happy Friday!

Happy Street by Leonid Afremov

Once again, I am SUPER DUPER HAPPY it's Friday! And friends, this is happiness that cannot be contained! MUST SHARE! It actually was delivered to me anonymously, with a label saying "Hey, Heidi! Here's some happiness! Just make sure to share it!" Okay, Universe, sure I will!

I'm a girl of my word, yo. First off, the picture above is by my favorite artist. I just love the use of color, and this particular piece seemed to be just right for my post. A testament to how beautiful a rainy evening can be.
Second off (imagine a mental list checking itself off as I go along, how silly), I need to tell you about the little treasure of a blog, Diamond in the Rough, which led me to another great blog, For the Easily Distracted, where I was led to THIS: (O.O) {awesome, right?}

Okay: Third! I have decided to put a playlist on the blog with 8 (because it seemed to fit the best) songs I am loving and dancing to right now. Hope you likey! If it works out, I plan on changing the eight songs every week.

And finally, you guys rock! You're beautiful and thoughtful and you make the world a better place! Now go out and enjoy your weekend! :^D

Thank the Lord it's Friday!

Caramel Coffee with Chocolate Whipped Cream is a good way to arm yourself against homework-induced brain malfunction (otherwise known as HIBM)

I am SO HAPPY IT IS FRIDAY! For those of you who weren't filled in, I spent the better part of this week stressing about my Irish Drama paper and art homework being due on Friday. And EVEN THOUGH I started both assignments multiple days beforehand, I was still crunched for time. Last night was (hence the above picture) devoted to writing the final draft of my paper. And needless to say, the picture I ended up turning in to my art teacher was not the piece I had originally been working on. Friday afternoon means: no more ridiculous homework to obsess over, party on my computer, doling out hugs, happy-dancing with Lilly, and above all much more smiling. Plus I have a new awesome black leather sketchpad for my Honors Creative Writing class. High fives? Oh yeah!

If you haven't already, check out my Friday post over at INSPIRATION BUDDY! and enjoy your weekend!

*Special thanks to Amy, who motivated me to start, and helped me to finish, my intimidating paper.
I love you, Amy!

The Weekend

My boyfriend is finally done with his job as a camp counselor, so I went with him and his family to Milwaukee's Irish Fest (which I highly recommend to everyone, Irish or not) both Saturday and Sunday. Since I can hardly recap all the fun here-I'll just give the highlights:

Good Music {I didn't get any pictures of the REAL performances (i.e. Gaelic Storm, Red Hot Chili Pipers), but this parade had some nice bagpipes and I loved the picture on the drums}

Good Food {This eggplant is nothing compared to the other food; Irish Nachos (fresh chips covered by cheese, onion, and bacon pieces), Reuben Rolls (think a reuben sandwich just in a wanton roll), and Turkey Leg (huge leg cooked to perfect mouthwatering excellence)}

And plenty of Irish culture (and shopping). Everywhere you went on the grounds you were sure to see shamrocks, harps, and Celtic knots. Not only were the people friendly, but they had plenty of knowledge on Irish history and interesting facts. {This picture shows my "lucky stone"- made of Connemara marble, which is the traditional gift between Irish families who vow friendship through generations. I also bought a worry stone which is concave and smooth for rubbing, but I gave that to my boyfriend}

But my favorite part was probably the Dance Pavilion, where they had set and ceili dancing. {This is Rich and I after learning three different dances- pretty sweaty thanks to the added bonus of lovely warm weather}
NOT PICTURED HERE: The beautiful Trinity Knot necklace Rich bought me, my Gaelic Storm glow stick (for their 10 year anniversary at Irish fest), my "I'm not Irish but kiss me anyway!" button, or (unfortunately) any of the really awesome stuff like Gaelic Storm or the fireworks on Sunday night. Well, there's always next year!
SO! What did you do over the weekend?

Fashionably Late? Or Just Tardy?

Today (which was warm and beautiful) I was at a water park with my family. And today was absolutely perfect for it. And clearly, we weren't the only people to notice: the place was packed. Few times in my life has the saying 'people come in all different shapes and sizes' been so apparently true. There were muscular people, short people, round people, fruit shaped people (apples and pears), thin people, fit people, young people, old people, really thin people (think 'skin and bones' thin), pudgy people, little people (some pretty cute kids), and everything in between!

So I hope this excuses my late posting... It was a great beginning to the weekend.

And tomorrow ("bum Bah DUM!") IRISHFEST!!

So... pretty excited. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Enjoy the last bits of summer.

How 'bout a pretty picture too?
