Ah, leftover pie!

Home!

Lilly and I had one this morning. Truthfully, spending time in another place for a long time, or just being in a really different place for a little time can make you really appreciate your own home.

Happy Monday, Everybody.
What do you love about your home?

Weekend Homework

Why do I find it so hard to do my work?
It's because I love being distracted.
It's so much more rewarding than doing my work!
When you're in school, especially high school,
that's true.
But sooner or later... *sigh*

Hope you guys are having better luck with work than I am.

Chubby Friday

My four sisters and I

I love proverbs, so the "HAVE A MOMENT? I'D LIKE A WORD" section is now "THE TURN OF A PHRASE" where I will post proverbs and other phrases (perhaps idioms?).
Check it out, and tell me what you think.

Also! It is Friday, which is usually when I would change the playlist, but since the New Moon playlist is so long, it will be sticking around another week. And I also made changes/improvements to it. As always, hope you likey.

Friday = New Playlist, and GUESS the theme!

Carlisle likes my new playlist in the same way I like his fashion.
A lot.

In short, I love NEW MOON. Multiple different awesome aspects put together made a fantastic film, including the acting, the directing, and of course the soundtrack
which is why I'm making an exception to my rule of 8, and included the whole soundtrack.
Hope you likey.

Have a great weekend!

What I Like About Tuesday! (And an Award)

Last Week, When I made a short list of things I like about Monday, Katie and Amy suggested I do one for Tuesday, so here it is:
Things I Like About Tuesday!

1. I'm back in the groove.
I've again accepted (however little I like it) that another week has started (because on Sunday, who knows? Work/school could still be canceled on the next day...). But Tuesday? Fuggedaboudit. At least Monday is over, and you're back in that groove of working and learning. Weekend grogginess, I'll see you later!

2. Less complaining from everyone. Weekend-hype has worn off, and Monday was used to get over it. Now it's Tuesday, and people have stopped moaning over getting back to work. Plus, there's no way anyone can get away with saying to you, "Somebody's got a case of the Mondays..."

3. I'm that much closer to Friday. On Monday, you know it's all like, "It's only the beginning! NOOOOOOO!!!" Slow suffering, and all that. But on Tuesday, you know that time has not stopped- and oh yeah, you're already 20% closer to the next weekend.

This award is from Marcela. :)
She's a real sweetheart, and her blog, The Joy of Enjoying, is a favorite of mine.
Thank you!

This award must be sent out to 15 other lovely bloggers.

A New Friday for Me, and You

It's time for a change. I've been having a problem lately with discipline. I don't mean obeying other people (I am naturally 'well behaved', being a quiet and polite person), but I mean obeying myself. It's a little funny, I just let myself get away with anything. My food consumption and attitude has been running wild- bouncing on metaphorical couches and not cleaning up both visible and invisible messes. I can't take it anymore. I'm thinking this abandon was brought on by stress (late night musical rehearsals, not enough sleep, homework), but if I'm being honest (and I plan to be), I had all of these problems before stress made them worse.

So. I'm putting my foot down. Self, you can't be irresponsible anymore. You have to respond to your own needs. You are going to make some routines whether you like it or not. Sleeping. Eating. Teeth brushing. And even, yes, exercising. It's now or never.

Live life to the fullest.

Maybe this resonates with some of you.
Maybe you need to take that control back.
This isn't just for me.
Have a great weekend.

The Way I See It #8

"It's not what you do, but how you do it."
-Heidi Rose Krill

This is a thought so brilliant and so relevant that there is no possible way it originated from me. I have no idea where it could have come from, or if my idea is slightly different, but I wholeheartedly believe it, as I would have whether I had come up with it on my own or not.
Let this be reassurance to anyone who is indecisive: no matter what you choose, as long as you have a good perspective, you can be happy.

Something Excellent About Today

My school is currently selling, through various students, these delicious chocolate bars.
(seriously, these babies are delicious)
Yesterday, I saw that the girl who sits next to me in French, let's call her Amanda (because that's her name), had in her box a MOCHA FLAVORED SEROOGY'S BAR.
I told myself that I must have this bar. MUST.
But...
Alas! No money!
I told Amanda that if she saved that particular chocolate bar for me, I would have $1.50 for her the next day (today).
I have experience with people not following through with these kinds of deals,
so I was happily surprised that she managed to save me one,
and I managed to get some money,
and now I have a chocolate bar which I am waiting for a prefect moment to eat...

As a side note, I am having a hard time finding room to write quality posts, since I have long musical rehearsals all this week, before opening weekend (the week affectionately titled Hell Week, actually). So, I'm pretty busy! Just wanted to let you know, so that you aren't rolling your eyes if I miss a post or do a one-picture-no-words post.

Monday!

Is it just me, or does blogging hold the magic to make my Mondays better? Because I've certainly been feeling better these Mondays. Ah, and it's good to be back! Let's go over some things I like about the first weekday, shall we?

Things I Like About Monday:

1) A new week, a new beginning I'm a little funny in this way, but I just feel good about any kind of new beginning.

2) Drinking coffee I usually skip coffee on the weekends, since I don't need the caffeine. It's a bit of a treat on Monday to have it again... mmm... so sweet and dark.

3) Accomplishing something As much as I'd love to extend my weekend for days and days, the truth is that I really never accomplish as much during the weekends as I do during the week. And there's something to be said about that feeling of doing actual work.

It's a small list, but it's something. Sorry I'm posting so late on Monday, but I had a late play practice today. :(

Hope you all started out the week well!

How to Have Your Followers, and Eat Them Too. Wait... what?

Alright people. Just so you don't think I'm a creeper, there's a saying that goes, "You can't have your cake and eat it too." Now, what exactly that means, I'm not quite sure, and it would be a great thing for someone to comment about. What I want to talk about is How to Keep Your Followers.

The reason I bring this up is because I have been dropping quite a few blogs off of my reading list for a couple of reasons, and I suspect that the writers of said blogs probably don't notice the loss of one follower, but if YOU are the kind of person who would notice that missing follower, here are some tips so that you are not left wondering (under such circumstances, should they arise), "What did I do wrong?"

Reasons I Click the 'Stop Following This Site' Button:

1. They already have 1,000+ followers, and their posts aren't that great. How good the blog's posts are plays a huge role in following or not following. Simply, blogs with a vast follower base are like the Walmart of the blog world. And I prefer to support locally owned businesses, yo; especially if the posts are better quality there.

2.
The posting is irritatingly irregular. No, you don't have to post every day, or even every week. I am currently following a blog which updates only once a month, but the point is that they regularly post once a month (and again, the post quality is pretty good). However, the blogs which fluctuate from posting once a week to not posting for a month drive me a little bonkers. The main point is, I don't want to waste that space on my blogroll, waiting for you to post again, when for all I know, you abandoned ship. I don't mean to be harsh, but I'm being honest.

3. (Oo.. a reference to my last 'The Way I See It Post'!)
I feel like they don't care whether I'm following them or not. I am following a handful of blogs with the sweetest, most caring writers. I comment on their blogs, or start following them, and they comment back on mine(or acknowledge/give thanks to their followers in a post on their blog). To those of you who do this, (and I always try to do it in return) I love you guys. Thank you for caring about me, out of your how many more followers/commentators. Again, I recently dropped a blog with mediocre posts and a writer who probably didn't even notice when I joined their followers. Needless to say, I don't feel bad about it.
To quote Beyonce's song, Single Ladies, "If you like it, then you should have put a ring on it." Except, it's more like, "If you want me to follow your blog, you should have cared enough to tell me so."

I had fun writing this, and I hope you laughed too at my sometimes ridiculous comparisons or what-have-you, rather than thinking I am just harsh or way off base. And, I'd like to give a big thank you to all of my followers (thankfully I haven't lost one yet) for being so great, whether by commenting on my posts or being sweethearts on their own blogs. I do not take you guys for granted, and if you are ever seriously irked by something I say, feel free to tell me! Otherwise, how would I know?

"60 and Main" and Other Pieces

This week has been so busy, because of musical rehearsal and bustling to get homework done by the end of the quarter. I am ecstatic to tell you that yesterday and today were great work days for me. I received an A on my creative writing journal, I started and finished an amazing little painting plus two other art pieces, and I have been nominated by my CR teacher as students of the month for my hard work! I don't have school tomorrow, and so today is an even bigger relief than normal.

"60 and Main"
This is a street intersection in my hometown, done in the amazing style of Leonid Afremov. This piece turned out so well that I have decided to make 'Street Scenes' my concentration in my art class. That means half of my pieces will be based on that theme. I got a bunch of compliments on this piece, and had two people even ask me to do a painting for them, and they would pay me. Reasons for my switch of concentration? I think it should be apparent.

"Figures in Sketch"
These are figure drawings of other students in my art class. I apologize that the picture is not very focused, but you get the general idea. I experimented with new kinds of pencil, and chalk to complete this piece. It was a bit empty, so I added floral themes for each figure, and had them intermingle.

My third piece will be displayed on Lola Everyday, tomorrow. ;)

Tomorrow, new playlist!
Have a great Friday!

The Way I See It #7

Many times it has happened that I have disliked someone for a very small reason, whether because they hardly smile or because the one time I heard them speak, it was to complain. But really, I feel that whatever the reason, it falls under this impression: That person doesn't care. Now many times, my original assumption has been proven wrong in as quick as a second. How? Maybe they smiled at me. Or spoke kindly to me. Maybe they even gave me a hug. Most of the people I don't like, I don't like just because I don't think they like me. And who wants to like someone who doesn't like them? The thing is, this is a two-way street. Someone has to crack a smile first. Why should you have to wait? Make the first move.

"No human can truly dislike someone whom they feel cares about them, if only a little."

Happy November!

Thirty days hath November, April, June, and September, February hath 28 alone, And all the rest have 31

And here is a quote I love so much I will certainly be repeating (but I think that's OK):
Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving.

-W. T. Purkiser
