Happy Halloween

There are chances that the next few days will be post-less, due to work demands.
I hope all of you have a good Saturday and Halloween (if you're celebrating).

The Rules

This is a poster in my Creative Writing classroom.
I have been naughty, and giving into sweet distractions,
but today. Yes, today I need to write more.
And then Rich is coming over to watch movies with me. ;)

Hope you like the new playlist,
I was very thoughtful about my choices.
You should write too and then we can sip pumpkin spice coffee and compare the results.

Have a great Friday!

The Way I See It #6

I'm not going to try and hide that it's Thursday. I'm just going to say I'm sorry it's late, and I hope you don't mind.

Here I Am... Miss America... ;)

Thank you to the sweet Farah of Ramblings of An Inane Mind for nominating me for the Kreativ Blogger award. I'm flattered. :)
SO! Now I'm persuaded to share Seven little-know things about myself...
Which I think is better than an acceptance speech anyway. ;)
(Wow, you guys are just learning a lot about me this week!)

1. I really love feeling clean. I was raised by a germaphobe who taught me to always wash my hands after doing anything. Nowadays, I'm not afraid of germs, but I do crave that clean feeling on my hands... and feet. I am more likely to spend my money on body lotions and washes (and bubble bath supplies) than on any other indulgence.

2. My favorite flowers are Stargazer lilies, though Forget Me Nots (see my banner) are a close second.

3. If I'm upset, I might be going out to buy makeup. It's silly, since I don't like wearing makeup except for on special occasions, but when I'm craving comfort, I usually take the couple dollars I have to my name and go out to purchase a new lip gloss. It's a safer option than a brownie... which would just cause a vicious cycle of discontent ("I can't believe I ate that brownie! Now I need to eat another one, I'm so upset!").

4. Lilly and I had a gossipy telephone conversation via a Starbucks thermos and a ceramic boot, and it was AWESOME. (make-believe is more fun than rolling down huge hills)

5. My perfect day begins with jumping out of bed (rather than slumping...), includes eating awesome food with people I love, and ends with a movie night. Along with other things like exercising, reading blogs while drinking coffee or tea, and getting a good grade/compliment.

6. Reading or posting to my other blog, (which I share with the adorable Amy) is the first thing I look forward to in the mornings.

7. If the whole architecture career backfires, I'd love one of the following jobs: coffee shop barista, Barnes&Noble bookkeeper, master of movie theatre concessions, pagemaster... (wait.. not that last one)

And now for the next nominees!

1. Alissa
2. Janice
3. Athena
4. Jamie
5. Amy

6. Brigitte
7. Nicole

The Rules:

1. Remember to thank the person who nominated you! (and link to them from your blog)
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
4. State seven things about yourself that most people don't know.
5. Nominate 7 other Kreativ Bloggers. (and link to them too!)
7. Leave a comment on each of the lucky duckies' blogs letting them know.

You would not believe how soft these are. I want them.
Now if only I had $10 more... (how sad is that?)

On Me

*inspired by Janice's post
My name is Heidi. I have only gotten happier as I've gotten older (I used to be a real crab). I'm so glad that I've become mature enough to stop taking life so seriously. (I love Futurama, by the way... even though I don't watch tv much)

I love food. I love to cook meals for the people I love.

I want to learn how to dance well-I admire the grace and control it takes. But for now, it's just silly "Heidi dancing" in my living room.

I'm an artist, but I prefer writing.

I like to work on my own, and I try to do things the best I can, the first time.

That means I naturally take things slower than everyone else. (which is usually a good thing, just not on the ACT)

I'm a dreamer, and I believe everyone has good in them.

I love my silly family- especially my sisters.

I believe natural beauty is better than any other kind.
I love trying new things and making new friends.

I'm silly, and spontaneous. I'm confident in who I am.

That's me.

New Week!

source

I love every kind of new beginning. I'm the kind of person who says "Happy {insert month here}!" on the first of the month.
It's good to be a happy person.
I love all of you.
Take care of yourselves!

Let's Watch a Movie!

Hey Guys! The ACT went well, and now I just want to watch a movie.
Speaking of movies, here are some that I am in great anticipation for:

New Moon is my favorite book in the series because it was so unexpected. I liked that it told a new story compared to the "and they lived happily ever after/Romeo and Juliet get married" type of thing. I'm just really excited for all the awkwardness and sadness. It sounds weird but... honestly, I think this one will be the most intense and action packed as well.
RELEASE DATE: NOV 20TH

Sherlock Holmes. Okay, disregarding the Killer cast (Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Rachel McAdams..), this movie looks soooo awesome. I love movies that take place during older time periods, and these outfits and sets are a dream. I bought Rich the complete collection of Sherlock Holmes stories about a year ago and we are totally going to see this together.
RELEASE DATE: DEC 25TH

I've always loved Alice in Wonderland, since I first saw the Disney version. It was fantastic without being a fairytale, which made it interesting to me. I really loved the original film, so I was a bit skeptical when Kelly showed me the trailer for a new, Tim Burton version. However, I think that Tim Burton's style will be an excellent complement to the dark theme of Lewis Carrol's classic. Plus, Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter- and I need to see that.
RELEASE DATE: MAR 5TH 2010

Unfortunately, this one is so far off right now that there are no decent posters, and I'm not sure if this one is fan-made or what... However! I am still extremely excited for this one and entirely pleased that the final book in the series is being made into two separate films, this being part one. There is so much going on in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and it was the best in the series by far, so I can only imagine how awesome and action-packed the movies are going to be.
RELEASE DATE: NOV 19TH 2010

What movies are you guys excited for?
Do you have anything to add about these?
Are you excited too?!?!?!
Do you go to midnight showings?!?!?!

*
I love movies. So so much.

Note to Self

Happy Friday!
As promised, the new playlist is full of Lady Gaga.
I also decided I liked autoplay better, since I can always click 'pause', but I don't always remember to press 'play'.

Comments?
Wish me luck, I'm taking the ACT tomorrow!
Have a great weekend.

The Way I See It #5

"Your age is a measure of your experience. It doesn't measure anything else. Not wrinkles, or gray hairs. Not mobility or motivation (or knowledge, for that matter). Some people see a little bit of everything, and others see a lot of a little. But 22 years will never have as much experience as 23."

Note on Blogs

I have recently added a few new blogs to my links.

I encourage you to check out Nicole's My Teacups in Peony, Athena's Let's Fly Away Now, Grace's Birdcage, and Rhianne's For the Easily Distracted...; some new favorite reads of mine. :)

Pictures I Am Dazzled By

Let's disregard the greatness of simplicity and good use of space for a moment, while I share with you all of the pictures I loved today, most of which are unrelated and all of which I adore and felt compelled to include. Consider this my apology if your skull cracks from the pressure of processing all of this awesomeness.

^This is so awesomely awkward and I LOVE IT.
I CANNOT wait to watch this scene of AWKWARDNESS in the upcoming NEW MOON.
BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

^If I could draw like this, really. Oh.. oo... I can't keep looking at it, I am so embarrassed of my own work...

I've recently developed a solid love for Lady Gaga's music. And the music videos.
Be warned: my next playlist will most likely be dominated by her.

^If I ever got a permanent marking on my body, really.
(Translation - I think: no sky, no earth, but still snowflakes fall)
By the way, I'm teaching myself to read braille. :)

^I just love how cute this girl looks, taking pictures.

^Really, caramel apples are tasty enough to satisfy, but these decadent beauties? DELICIOUS!
If you told one of these babies that they, "satisfied you," you would be in serious trouble, man.
Enjoy that apple-sized bruise to the face.

^For some reason, I just could not pass this one by. There are very few colors, and they are used well and boldly. Love the field of red.

^Oh how I wish I could pull of that messy and beautiful look.
Must. Keep. Trying. Totally. Worth it.

^Here we go with a little love for the seasons. I love the coolness of this first one.

^And does anyone else like that autumn primarily consists of warm colors even though it's getting colder? Nature loves balance.

Parks are great. But only because of these benches.
Just kidding. But really, aren't they neat?

I am extremely proud that the little known disease of becoming airborne while one sleeps is finally getting some acknowledgment. We need to spread the knowledge, to help find a cure!

^And this one is just charming.

Hope you like.
Have a great day/night/life

WRITING IT OUT

I've been working on creative writing homework all day, and right now I'm taking a wee break.
I am really enjoying my new thermos- it is an utter delight for me to taste how my coffee is still hot, though it's been sitting for hours off the heat. I'm a bit disappointed myself that my posts have been a little on=and-off, but it will probably be like that for the next couple weeks, since I have a lot going on with school. {Then again, most of my homework is writing, which can be done at my computer... if you see where I'm going ;) }

I need to say that even though I haven't been posting, I've been reading. And I love your blogs! Keep being beautiful and inspiring. Your posts really cheer me up and add that extra substance to my days.

I'm in the mood for a cartoon:

This Weekend

Okay, so I've finally changed the playlist, and turned the autoplay off, and I'm liking it. I hope you like it too. Friday and Saturday were pretty busy what with chilling with Katie and Amy and our new kitty, Lola (pictured lovably above).

Basically I've been having fun reading things from these two sites, fmylife and TXTS FRM LST NGHT. I've decided to give some examples, because every thing I think is awesome must be shared with other people:

from TXTS FRM LST NGHT:

"(646): So how was awkward coffee with forgets-your-name?"

"(972): Just saw a group of asian tourists in safari outifts bow in thanks to the starbucks guys. And no Im not high."

"(415): Yeudjkisdjxbfceryuj. i love having a qwerty keyboard just so i can do that."

"(347): I'm praying to Jesus, Allah, Buddah, and the whole gang tonight that I'm not pregnant"

from FMyLife:

[Today, I told a lady that came into my clothing store that I thought her abstract looking necklace was pretty. She responded, "Oh... Thats actually a pipe that goes into my lung." FML]

[Today, I took my girlfriend to the fair so I could propose. We finally got to the top of the ferris wheel, and I popped the question. She said no. The ferris wheel broke down. Most awkward hour of my life. FML]

[Today, I went outside to enjoy the cool air without my glasses. I saw my neighbor doing the same, so I waved and said hi. When she didn't respond, I yelled and went back inside. It was only later when I went back out with my glasses on that I realized I was being ignored by a Halloween decoration. FML]

Happy Birthday to Lilly!

Lilly is 12 today! Happy birthday my little Panda-like friend!
You are one of the sweetest, most sincere people I know, and I am so proud of you! I'm glad you're my sister! :)
Have a good one, cutie!

Sunday

It's a new week, and it's been a pretty stressful day. I made myself a new wallpaper, with a "Good Morning" message for tomorrow on it, and reminders for the day, next to an inspiring quote. This is the quote:

"Blessed are the Happiness Makers. Blessed are they who know how to shine on one's gloom with their cheer."

How do you guys get through Monday?

Week's End

*My wish for you is a fulfilling Saturday, and a hopeful new week.
*

I recently acquired some creamy almond milk, and was delighted to try it in my tea yesterday.
Chamomile tea bag, with cinnamon and vanilla flavoring. I was wondering if any of you have recommendations for brands of tea you like or how you like your tea prepared.

Oh, and one more thing...

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!! I hope it was a good one.

Converse!

It doesn't escape attention that we love each other. We are in a state of friendship where one person will be friends with another person who's friends with someone else, and we are all connected in a chain of comradery. And we like our friends so much, that we pick up little traits here and there. We start to laugh like them. We pick up their body language. We use the words they use. We become one. It's wonderful, and in little ways... it's not.
Using the same vocabulary gets a little monotonous.
How many times can you say, "awesome!" and have it keep its weight?

I propose that we go out and add new words to our repertoire. Maybe by reading the Word of the Day on dictionary.com. Or maybe by flipping through the thin pages of the dictionary and where-your-finger-stops-nobody-knows. Maybe even by getting all chummy with the thesaurus and letting it share generations of knowledge with you. And even if... say, even these words spread throughout that huge chain of friendship and likeness... we'll all sound a little more intellectual for the experience.

Off-Day

I woke up today with the sniffles, and after doing some refreshing yoga and eating some yummy french toast made lovingly by my mom, my day got a little worse as one thing after another went wrong. Granted, they were little things (like I wanted soup for lunch, and it just happened to be one of the days when the school wasn't serving soup... and I went to musical practice, feeling totally crummy but determined to tough it out, only to be told that I didn't need to be there), but there were a lot of them, and these things add up.

Overwhelmed, I actually started crying when I was calling home for a ride back from the practice I didn't need to be at. It just wasn't my day.

Thank goodness for loving mothers who take you to the store on these days to buy some soup and apple juice (the beverage that is so comforting when heated up) and rent a movie.

Have any of you been sick recently or had an off-day? What do you do to feel better?
