The Way I See It #2

I think we all have people like this in our lives, no matter how well you know them: those people who just radiate happiness and optimism and energy.

Today, I had musical rehearsal. And guys, I have really been complaining about musical lately. Practices are going longer and becoming more frequent. I am bored, and have things to worry about and take care of outside of Drama Lecture Hall.
And I'm not the only one. Attitude has definitely been worsening throughout the cast. So after practice today, we had a cast-member instated meeting, about all the negativity and laziness (really poor attendance across the board). We were talking about cheering up and committing energy into musical again.
About halfway through, Becca -who is one of those people who are so wonderful and energetic, and who has been so friendly to me, even when I am so quiet and reserved- speaks up and says that musical has been the most stressful thing in her life lately, and the last few practices she has wanted to cry because there is such negativity and disrespect. She had tears in her eyes.
I cried, and after the meeting was adjourned, I went up to her, and she was crying and even though I had something to say, I couldn't say it through the sudden tears I had. What a wonderful person! She gave me one of the best, most genuine hugs I've ever had. I didn't need to say anything, but I told her anyway, through tears: "Thank you for always being so nice to me." I am crying again, writing about it. I needed to tell you all this, so that you could truly grasp what my quote is, this time.

"Give your love first to the people who are kind and happy towards you. They try so hard, and even if they don't need it the most, they sure deserve it the most."

1.yes
2.no
3.love
4.I
5.you
6.want
7.why
8.do
9.hope
10.home

How about you?

YESTERDAY!

I GOT A NEW PHONE!?!?! FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!! ISN'T IT AWESOME!?!?!?!

sO, yes.... Most excellent.
Rich came over in the morning, and we went to the coffee shop to get lattes and a chocolate muffin. I went to musical practice beforehand, and when my mom came to pick me up, she was excited to surprise me (and when my mom is excited, she bounces up and down like a little kid) with something. I actually thought at the time that she knew about this. But it was a cellphone!!! YEAH!!!!!!!
I spent the whole rest of the day on Myxer and texting people. Mostly Jeremy. And then Katie and Amy. So yesterday was pretty awesome.

Happy Friday!

Happy Street by Leonid Afremov

Once again, I am SUPER DUPER HAPPY it's Friday! And friends, this is happiness that cannot be contained! MUST SHARE! It actually was delivered to me anonymously, with a label saying "Hey, Heidi! Here's some happiness! Just make sure to share it!" Okay, Universe, sure I will!

I'm a girl of my word, yo. First off, the picture above is by my favorite artist. I just love the use of color, and this particular piece seemed to be just right for my post. A testament to how beautiful a rainy evening can be.
Second off (imagine a mental list checking itself off as I go along, how silly), I need to tell you about the little treasure of a blog, Diamond in the Rough, which led me to another great blog, For the Easily Distracted, where I was led to THIS: (O.O) {awesome, right?}

Okay: Third! I have decided to put a playlist on the blog with 8 (because it seemed to fit the best) songs I am loving and dancing to right now. Hope you likey! If it works out, I plan on changing the eight songs every week.

And finally, you guys rock! You're beautiful and thoughtful and you make the world a better place! Now go out and enjoy your weekend! :^D

Opinion Poll

Hey Guys!
For my art class, we are putting together portfolios over the course of the school year. Every portfolio will consist of 24 pieces; 12 for Breadth (to show off one's range of skills) and 12 for Concentration. Each person has to pick their own concentration, which can be anything. That's a pretty wide range of choice, and of course there are so many options that would be good.

This poses a dilemma with me, since I can't decide on what would be best! I want to know what you guys think. I have gone through a lot of possibilities, but I've narrowed it down to two ideas I like. I'm also open to completely different suggestions (my concentration could be something simple too- like coffee)! I would appreciate it if you would vote on the poll I've just tacked up, so I may come to a decision I can settle with. Thanks!

The Way I See It #1

When it comes to routine, I have embraced the belief (begotten through philosopher Amos Bronson Alcott) of "the less routine, the more life." A belief which I hope many people grasp and apply in their own lives, and I am in no way parting with. That said, you may have noticed that I do not usually follow a routine with this blog- I post when I have time and something to say, I post about whatever comes to mind, and I don't have any constant features.

I still plan on posting when I have time, on writing whatever I want,
but
I have decided to add a weekly feature -every Wednesday- for you to count on and expect, because honestly, I enjoy being able to count on and expect features on other blogs. I mean, anyone who has read Oh, Mishka for over a week knows and delights in her '5 Things' posts every Friday.

My feature is inspired by the refreshing "The Way I See It" quotes on Starbucks cups. Instead of quotes from other people (though I'll have some of those too), I will be putting in my own words of wisdom. Don't worry; I'll try to keep them simple (resist rambling!).

So, in an effort to resist further unnecessary explanation (because we're so smart and don't need it), here is my first installment:

"If I only know one thing about life, it's this: Life is all about balance.

Every kind of peace come from this; if peace is what you desire, balance is what you need to focus on."

Why Yes, I Would Like an Awesome New Purse for Free.

Anyone who really knows me knows this: I am not a girly girl. I don't wear makeup unless it's a special occasion. I don't usually do anything with my hair beyond washing it. I don't have pierced ears, and do not plan on piercing them. And I do NOT carry purses.

Not surprisingly, I know myself pretty well. So imagine my surprise with myself when upon reading the morning's post over at Daddy Likey, I was delighted by the opportunity to win an amazing handbag from Handbag Heaven. No joke guys, this about made my day.

And after perusing their online store, you couldn't blame me.

For one of these bags, I would LOVE to become a purse-carrying lady. I would carry that bag EVERY DAY for goodness' sake! (I had to add the middle bag because I just found it hilarious)
Who knows? If I had a nice bag, I might be motivated to start dressing nicer, too.

Want in on the action? Head over to the Daddy Likey post, and leave a comment!

What I Accomplished Today

This is what I was working on all day. Hope you likey. I didn't want to put it in the post, because it really needs to be seen at it's full size.

Day Off School

So, I woke up this morning and my ankle had swelled a little balloon inside it.
I could barely hobble to the staircase to tell my mom what happened last night (I was hoping it would get better, and I could skip the, "That's why you shouldn't go jogging in the evening" all together).
And I'm thinking this is (fortunately, and unfortunately) my worst injury ever. I have never broken any bones, and apart for some spurts of pain in my back earned from trampolines (which I avoid like the plague now), I've never been limited in movement like this before. Don't worry though, I can walk around a bit now and was even able to take a shower! Oh yeeaahhh!!

Well, I can't exactly go to school and walk back and forth to all my classes in my current state so today's agenda entails coffee, the internet, and sitting. :)

I Again Have Faith in the Human Race

So, spurred by my new realization that I will never have an awesomely fit physique without real effort, and by those stupid "Best Celebrity Beach Bodies" shows on VH1, I went to self.com, looked up a workout, and stepped out the door. Walky to warm up, and then joggy, joggy, joggy.
(Not nearly as fabulously as the person pictured above, and in fact I was jogging on the side of a road)

Well, I was about 20minutes into my jog, when like a clumsy fool, my ankle [I'm actually sure my ankle's thought process was this: "Wow, this is boring. I wish it would stop. Time to mix things up!"] bent in the wrong direction and I fell to the gavel-ly roadside. My ankle was in super pain. So I removed my shoe, sat down on the ground, and held my foot in the least painful position until I felt good enough to test out it's walking abilities. Mind you, I was quite a walk from my house, and that would have been a long hobble home.
Lo and behold, while I am sitting on the roadside looking like a weirdo, the second car to pass me stops and backs up.

"Are you okay?" a girl's voice called from the driver's seat.
I replied something like, yeah, I just fell and hurt my ankle.
"Are you sure? Do you want a ride?"
Umm... yes.

I was pretty embarrassed, and very grateful to this girl, who out of pure goodness decided to stop and see if the random person sitting on the side of the road and holding her knee was alright. When I got in the car, she said she didn't have any napkins. I thought, 'Um.. I guess you didn't hear me say I hurt my ankle? It's not really an open wound.' When we got under some streetlights, however, multiple things happened at once: I put my hand on my knee, looked down, and felt something wet. My knee was bleeding and I hadn't even noticed. (Don't worry guys, just an abrasion)

And so she dropped me off at the house, and told me she hopes my knees gets better.

So here is a huge thank you to Becky, a junior who was going home from Golf practice, when she noticed I might be hurt, and stopped to help. When I can drive, and if I see someone who might need help, I will stop to ask them. :)

And the Routine Settles in Like Fog...

Hey guys! Things are pretty normal around here... I've already developed a new routine:

6:00am- Woken up by Moma, fall back asleep, fail to remember later
6:30am- Wake up for real, go downstairs, don't shower if I can get away with it, and prepare for school while all the while staring off into the distance in a half-sleeping manner
7:22am- Run into the school so as to make the 25-after bell
7:25am- School coma sets-in
8:20am- While sitting in Math class, dig into my lunch bag for a couple chips
10:50am- Meet Kelly in the Choir room to go to really-early-lunch time (chips, sandwich, and dessert)
12:02pm- Talk about literature in AP Lit class
12:55pm- Slip back into school coma
2:40pm- Find Kelly
2:42pm- Leave the school with Kelly (who usually likes to stand in the sun, instead of under the shade) and look for an approaching Little Blue
~3:00pm- Walk into the house, over to my computer, and turn on my game: 2Moons
3:30pm- finish up killing monsters or fishing, and attempt to call Rich who does not answer because he's in class (but I want to talk to him anyway)

Exciting, huh? I want to just put my routine in a glass jar and shake it up! Soooooo boring!
Any suggestions for spicing up my life?

The Life I Want Starts Now

I realize that nothing is going to happen in my life until I make it happen. And that I can have everything I want in the time that I have. I just need to be patient; everything will happen in it's own good time. I will not feel like one little failure (or bunches) messes me up. I have my whole life, and I only have one. I am going to go after what I want.

When I am at the end of my life, I won't be able to relive anything; but I will be able to think, 'I appreciated all of it.'

Right now? I'm listening to the excellent 'Empire State of Mind' by Jay-Z and eating a brownie. With Nutella on it, no less. Mmm..

Thank the Lord it's Friday!

Caramel Coffee with Chocolate Whipped Cream is a good way to arm yourself against homework-induced brain malfunction (otherwise known as HIBM)

I am SO HAPPY IT IS FRIDAY! For those of you who weren't filled in, I spent the better part of this week stressing about my Irish Drama paper and art homework being due on Friday. And EVEN THOUGH I started both assignments multiple days beforehand, I was still crunched for time. Last night was (hence the above picture) devoted to writing the final draft of my paper. And needless to say, the picture I ended up turning in to my art teacher was not the piece I had originally been working on. Friday afternoon means: no more ridiculous homework to obsess over, party on my computer, doling out hugs, happy-dancing with Lilly, and above all much more smiling. Plus I have a new awesome black leather sketchpad for my Honors Creative Writing class. High fives? Oh yeah!

If you haven't already, check out my Friday post over at INSPIRATION BUDDY! and enjoy your weekend!

*Special thanks to Amy, who motivated me to start, and helped me to finish, my intimidating paper.
I love you, Amy!

A Personal Note From The Writer

Is it alright to have more whipped topping than coffee in your cup? If it's a small cup, I think so. Sometimes we just need to indulge ourselves.

Oh, and if you want to know my opinion on anything, just ask. I know it's a bit far reaching to say that, but hey- who doesn't like sharing their opinion?

I am reminded of these lines from Casanova (2005):
Casanova: I have too long dominated the conversation. What are your thoughts on the matter?
Francesca: What did you just say?

Oh, Heath Ledger. You win me over every time.

Side Note: Today is 9-9-09, and I would like to give a little hoorah! This is also my 99th post. (Isn't it great how irony works? By the way, I was writing a paper on irony when I realized the date... wow)So here are your balloons. Check out the song 99 Red Balloons, while you're at it.

Passing Through

I say, people go in and out of our lives all the time, and there are plenty of them that we don't get to know before they've passed us by.
I want to know something about you. Something I don't know. Something important. Or not.

More than once a year, usually, I rearrange my room. The last time I rearranged it, I plugged in a night light. I've never used a night light before in my life, and now it's there every night. It's in the shape of a smiling flower. I got it from my Grandma.

Inspire Yourself

So, now that I've gotten my new computer up and running, I've been spending lots of time having fun with this new toy. My little Farmville person plants and plows so much more efficiently! Ehem. Uh, anyway... most of today has been dedicated to the composing of my inspiration board. That is, to get those creative sparks firing. This will especially help me with ideas for my art class. It was so much fun, I'm hoping you will each make your own. To save money on printing pictures, I just collaged different pictures together in Paint, and set the masterpiece as my desktop wallpaper. If you want, you can take pictures from magazines or photos of friends and put them together on your wall. Good luck!

A Little About School

Well, my art class (AP Art Studio) is going to be tough. And why? Because I will have to produce 1 piece of artwork every 10 days. This poses a challenge since I am an EXTREMELY slow working/meticulous artist. I take my time in most things, and especially this. So... a little worried here.
I may share pictures of my artwork, as I make it. That is, as long as you guys behave yourselves. No late night partying (Kelly), or excessive drinking (Lilly). Group dance-offs are still okay (Amy). So- you know -just keep your own posting regular and once in a while you'll be treated to some personal artwork. Maybe I could inspire you guys too, no?

Sheesh

Things can get so tense around here. I just want to shake people and say, "For the love of God, get over it!" Or if I'm feeling really daring, "Get over yourself!"

So I am really tired right now. It was a very good, and very busy/tiring day. I know you guys understand, school starting and everything. Tomorrow I'll be back.

Another New Beginning

source
{notes and pictures to do with my
AWESOME birthday are yet to come at a later time -
think in the next few days}

In this post, I would most like to address the new year I have ahead of me. Today is the first day of my 18th year, and in one year when I celebrate my 18th birthday, I will have boarded a completely new ship, and set sail on the next section of my life: leaving home and high school for college and adulthood. So exciting. ;^)
With that most serious stuff out of the way, we reach my point (yes! we're there already!):
Naming my goals and making my 18 New Things List.

So which should we start with?
Goals?
Aalll-righty then!

Bars to Reach in The Coming Year:
-Achieving As in all of my classes, every quarter. (I know I can do it!)
-Staying up to date with both the blogs I contribute to (even if I don't get to them until the evenings)
-Turn in NO LATE WORK (This will certainly be tough, see below)
-Overcome my procrastination issues (true these two goals go together, but I mean this is a HUGE problem of mine)
-(Let's shoot for five, hey?) Become better friends with my viola (It is scandalous how little I so much as look at my viola outside of the classroom)

And now (because I won't be busy enough):

18 New Things:

1. Invent a frame able to display two sides of a document (for those two-sided drawings my sister Kelly makes me)
2. Spend an entire day at Barnes&Noble (drink Starbucks and be merry)
3. Attend a sunrise
4. Use a seemingly useless item
5. Have five people blow bubbles into the sunset
6. Do the splits (both ways)
7. Make spaghetti with meatballs (we NEVER have meatballs in our spaghetti for some reason...)
8. Read the House of Night series (see what the big deal is)
9. Get to know someone new
10. Pull an elaborate prank
11. Volunteer somewhere
12. Throw a party (even if only sisters are invited)
13. Try Sushi
14. Cry over a book (I haven't done this in a long time- so it's not new, but I think that's okay)
15. Solve that freaking puzzle book
16. Learn to play a beautiful song on the piano
17. Make a dessert with starfruit (which I've never tasted before)
18. Ask my grandparents about their lives
